Here is some great information about your work environment for your work from home business. If you?re not comfortable with your surroundings and that will affect your work from home business. I trust that these tips will be useful to you.
Work from Home Based Business
When you set up your work from home based business, you may have put lots of time into ideas of what business you would like to have and who you will work with, but rarely do you consider the importance of the setup and ‘feel’ of your home office. When you work from home, that equates to long hours in this space and actually your performance and attitude is affected by your environment. How much thought have you put into your work from home based business design? Does it fit your needs and style? Is it both comfortable AND productive? Everyone has different needs. Let’s take a look.
We go into business for many reasons but one of the many benefits of a work from home based business is that you control your work space. Some needs are universal and many other are personal. Let us look for to those issues that just make good work from home based business sense.
Organization Skills:
One sacred rule in setting up is everything needs its Own Home: Keep your office clean and well organized. Everything has a place and things are located into groups. Depending on how big a space you will define as your office (and make sure that space is OFFICE only for tax purposes) will somewhat dictate how you set up. Your work from home based business is easier when you know where everything is. The idea is for you to have less stress and more productivity. That also leads to profit.
Looking at personal tastes, I like a good file cabinet with several drawers, colored hanging folders labeled clearly and according to groups that make sense. Whenever I find I have not put things where they belong I can hear the ‘clink clink’ of the cash machine putting money down a rat hole while I struggle to find the needed file or note or whatever. That is lost time which means lost money. My work from home based business cannot afford a leak in the boat.
We also put up a shelf with small bins labeled for example: scissors, labels, tape, possums, pens and markers, etc. Everything should be in easy reach.
FILE, do not Pile: Try as best to handle all paper work ONE time or the piles can tend to grow and breed in the night to snarling distracting messes in the morning. This leads to more stress and less productivity.
Make the System Fit Your Style: I like lots of color, some folks do not. Do you do best with things alphabetically or by categories? Decide what you want within easy reach and what can be up on a bookshelf or wall shelf, file cabinet, etc. I would not give up my rolling chair for a pony! Everything I need is normally within reach which minimizes my getting up and down. Phone system, computer and most common files use with excellent lighting are a must for me.
Do you want a simple and fairly clear office or lots of plans and a lived in but organized approach. Does your room welcome you to stay in it? Some folks will want a coffee pot or tea pot; I need my munchies bin of healthy snacks.
Organization is an ongoing organic process: As your work from home based business develops, so will your understandings of your needs. Functionality will be your ongoing priority. Do not get stuck in yesterdays needs. Be flexible to grow and change what you need. Your work from home based business will evolve. One thing that can help is to Pre-Chart Your Office Design: Think of your style, needs, equipment needed, paper management, lighting. Draw it out and then go purchase what you need to set it up. You can set up an office with small bins, stacking bins, file cabinets, worktables, book shelves, etc. without a huge expense. This is especially true when you consider the loss of time and money when you are not organized.
I tend to be a PILE not FILES type so it was difficult from day one. If you feel you at all need help in this area I believe some of the best spent money I ever did was to hire an office organizer who got me on the right track. Even now and then I bring her back in when I’ve fallen of the wagon. She has been and still is, when needed, worth her weight in GOLD!
Office Motto: Everything has a place and everything GOES to its place. Handle things once whenever possible. Now make your plans to work from home show your style. Your home office should be a pleasure to work from and it saves you time which is saving you money!
If we all strive for honest, ethical business practices, the internet will become a safe place to conduct our business. Take a look at a new type of business model that strives to achieve these ethical business practices for a legitimate work at home business. Some months ago I came across this business. If you are ready to roll up your sleeves and work with a team committed to pool their talents to build a “real” business with “real” business people and would like to find out more about this home based business opportunity in a way that you probably have never heard of before, then I suggest you go to the link at the end of this paragraph. The business is based on the acquisition of customers, not on recruiting distributors, as you would be aware, customers are the mainstay of any business and without them a business cannot survive for very long. Most of us have struggled to find something that works and we have all probably come across opportunities that show promise only to be disappointed after a short
period of time. There is nothing else out there like this business, not that I have seen anyway.
