Recently in a discussion with my associates Paulette, Michael and I we were talking about the inquires for a work from home environment. With all the recent layoffs, and the 9.4 million people that are out of work. People are looking for alternatives, why not work from home? My colleagues were saying that the following are some key items for someone to review prior to starting a work from home business.

More and more people these days are looking to work from home. With higher and higher gas prices, massive job losses, and falling economies, it makes more sense than ever to start a work from home business.
Before you start a work from home business, however, you need to seriously examine yourself in five key areas,

Enthusiasm

The most important personal aspect of your work from home business is your own enthusiasm for the business. Do you have an obsession for your work from home business plan? Are you going to love what you are planning to do? A work from home business calls for an enormous amount of self-motivation. Without this commitment, your work from home business may succeed, but success will come slowly and painfully. If you don’t love what you are doing, you will most likely not carry through with the tough and sometimes boring things that need to be done to build any business.

Intellectual Stamina

There is no doubt that your work from home business will have obstacles. All businesses do. Will you be able to rise to conquer these obstacles, or will your work from home business fail because you can’t handle the tough decisions?

Drive and Determination

If you want your work from home business to succeed, you must be driven. A strong positive mental attitude and drive are what will make your work from home job successful. If you are not driven, you will stop doing the things that need to be done to build a successful business.

Independence

Are you the kind of person who lives for independence? There will be no one else to blame if something goes wrong in your work from home business. If your home business is to succeed you must have a can-do attitude.

Relationships

Your work at home opportunity will most likely be in some sort of service area. If you are not the kind of person who enjoys people, this will be a problem. A work from home business is not for the bashful introvert. Building a business is mostly about building relationships, whether it is with customers or with other business owners.
