Mary Kay Leads: The Gold Ring Test

“I’ve heard about a “gold ring test” that supposedly demonstrates the presence of lead in lipsticks. Is that test reliable?”
No. The so-called “test” has absolutely no scientific validity and, in reality, is nothing more than urban legend. Mary Kay does not use lead or lead-based ingredients in its lipstick or in any of its other skin care or color cosmetics. Because lead occurs naturally throughout the environment, however, there are trace amounts of it in most consumer products, including most lipsticks and other cosmetics. Any naturally occurring trace amounts of lead in Mary Kay lipsticks or other of the Company’s products are well within the daily safe levels of exposure as established by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

“How much money can I expect to earn as an Independent Beauty Consultant?”

The earning opportunity associated with a Mary Kay business is certainly open-ended; however, it is impossible to guarantee that a particular level of income can be earned. The amount of money you may make as a Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultant will depend upon many factors including your personal goals and the amount of time and effort you choose to invest in your business. Many Independent Beauty Consultants operate their businesses on a part-time basis with the goal of meeting short-term financial goals – such as the purchase of holiday gifts for their families, to pay for a family vacation, school clothes or tuition for their children. Meanwhile, others decide to build their Mary Kay businesses to the point at which it becomes possible for them to quit their jobs and pursue their Mary Kay businesses full time. The bottom line is that how much you earn in your Mary Kay business is strictly up to you. So in the words of Mary Kay Ash, “Set your goals and hang on to them until they are a reality. You’ve got to believe it before you will ever see it. Whatever the mind can perceive and believe, you can achieve!”

Advertising Methods

The advertising used is directly related to the marketing method you choose. Word of mouth is the most common and cost effective way to promote your business. Watkins doesn’t restrict your advertising options and you may use the logo as long as you identify yourself as an independent associate.

Eventually, reality for most business entrepreneurs looking to build a home based business with any company is running out of contacts. Once you have approached your family and friends, where do you find people to contact? This is the stage where many people will just quit and move onto something else!

Purchasing leads lists is one way to enhance your contact list. Just google “leads” or “contact list” and you will get millions of results from companies ready and willing to sell you leads! The cost to you, as a purchaser of leads can range from free to upwards of PER NAME!

Free leads lists are generally available to anyone who wants them and takes the time to download the list! If your name has ever appeared on a lead list you will likely have received hundreds or even thousands of unsolicited mail from entrepreneurs wanting you to join their business. It’s enough to turn anyone off and kills any interest they may have had in building an online business. Spam laws were created to control this type of unsolicited mail, but it still is a big problem today! Especially if you are the one receiving information or solicitation you didn’t specifically ask for and don’t want.

Purchased leads lists aren’t really that much better. The down side is, even when you are purchasing top dollar exclusive leads, you have no way of knowing how many other lists those people are on. The exclusive list you purchase from a particular company, promising that their lists are on sold to a limited number of people, does not mean those same people are not on some other company’s list that is being sold to hundreds or thousands of people.

Typically from a really great list only 1-3% will even be interested in your specific offering. There are no guarantees their interest will develop into any type of business association with YOU! Think about that for a minute! If you purchase a great list and are willing to pay top dollar your list at most you can expect to develop a business relationship with a very small number of people.

EXAMPLE:

100 contact leads x = 00 for your list

3 people show interest specifically in your business offering. YOU must then develop a relationship with those 3 people, provide information and coaching, and answer all their questions so they can see the benefits of having a business relationship with you. It can take many hours of your time before you enter into a business relationship, whatever that might be.

Let’s say you hit the jackpot and those 3 people decide to join you, your actual cost per lead is 00/3 = 3.33 per lead to business relationship PLUS the value you place on your time to develop that relationship.

That’s why I don’t buy leads! I BUY CUSTOMERS!

A customer is someone who is already purchasing my product, knows about my service and doesn’t need to be informed of anything to make a purchasing decisions. They are already purchasing before I get them! Isn’t that cool?
